Week 12 08/12/08
Week 11 01/12/08
Last week i became ill so i could not come in on the friday for the start of the animation, however the group have advised me that they did not start any animation last friday they decided to create and work on the characters. Today i emailed paul with all my work so that he has now got a copy of the work and can put it into the room. As i created the props and the posters etc. However the team has kept me uptodate with what has been happening while i have not been there. I will be attending the next time we meet up, so that i can catch up with what needs to be done next. I will close off there for now but i will be back soon to give any more info and statstics.
Week 10 24/11/08
Comments on work undertaken and shared in the group critique is that, the outcomes are that we need to work harder and work more togehter so we have decided to meet up again this friday to catch up on some work and we have decided to start the animation of the characters within the band and also the crowd too, we have decided to split the animation so me and amy are doing the crowd and also paul and matt are goin to be move the band characters.
Week 9 17/11/08
Week 8 10/11/08
Team minutes on the blog:
We have created a new story board, which is on pauls blogger for the group. We have all looked at each others work. Paul has started to make the lights more different and matt has created the body on the person in 3DsMax, but he has yet to add the head to the body. I have created the chairs and the steroes and i am just in the process of adding the material, amy has created the band and the stage and we also have the room which we will be workin on this as a group to put our own work into the single room.
My comments on the work undertaken and shared in the group critique is that jo sounded happy with the progress so far and we have all decided as a group to carry on with the modelling in 3dsMax putting the materials onto the objects and props. Next week i will be working on finishing putting my marterials on then and then showing what i have done to the rest of the group.
Week 7 03/11/08
I feel that our presentation went well and i found by listen to other groups and there presentations all seemed the same to ours. As a group we did not get much feedback from the rest of the class, but we have decided to all work on different ascpects and it is my aim to contentrate on the props and i am also goin to add material to my props. But i think we all worked well on this presentation and we all dressed very smart, and we was all present at the rite times of the presentation too. We made sure that we backed each other up and also we have set our our goals for next week and they are to make sure that all the chiars, tables, high tables, stools and also speakers are all created and ready to move into the room which paul has with the lights that he is creating to do. We have also drawn out a stroy board of the way the animation is goin to lay out and run. Also today we picked four songs that are goin to be represented in the animation. And also we hope to add a voice over at the end of the animation with a catchy pharses to the animation.
Week 6 27/10/08
In this session i worked on my 3ds max head and i watched some more tutorials, for the group work we have created the room and the lighting and it looks really good but next week we hope to get a lot more done, and to work on our presentation. In the presentation we will look at the SWOT analysis of your project so far. Strenghts: music Weaknesses, Opportunites, Threats.
On friday i handed in the 3d head to the hand in office on a cd of what i have creating doing my head.
If i had time to change anything would do differently next time if i could start the project again and have more time in creating the 3d head. And i would leave the same the ears as i reallt thought that i did the ears to my head very well. I have creating the head but i wish that i had more time to finish the modeling.
Week 5 20/10/08
Tuesday
I feel that the prototype has progressed I have added the back of the skull and head together and i have been working on the ear today. The part that i have played to create the phototype is my ear. Above is the model with the ear just about to be added to the edge of the head, I have made the ear thicker around the back so that it looks fatter rather then thin and flat. We did not work on any of our YMCA group work this week as we decided to concentrate on the head modelling. But as a group we decided that we would work on the YMCA group work next Tuesday.
Friday
In the lecture i carried on with my face but i had a few problems i had to select using the unwrap uvw mapping and select and colour in the area i needed in red but it would not select so i decided to take off the cyclinder and then i had to select them indivdually. I then realesed that my head and face are not attached so i had to do unwrap the uvw to them seprately. I have found this lecture very hard but i think i have risen to the challenge and i have tried my hardest to make things work and look right. For next week i hope to get my head with material on it and so that it looks correct to be handed in.
Week 4 13/10/08
We worked on the YMCA group work today, we all decided to work on a specific areas. So me and amy started to create the room and put in the windows and doors and, by using the line tool in 3d max then extruding the line to get a purfect cut edge to the door and windows. Paul worked on the actual lighting and he also looked at different tututials that would help show strobe lighting effects in 3d max. Matt also carried on with hes characters. I have also draw in 3d max some props for the room like, tables, chairs, glasses and also a stage, which is creating using a block.
I feel that my work is processing very well, however i did have a few problems with my modeling of the head on monday nite as i had been following the tutorials and my laptop decided to cut the images on the panels in half so i could not work on my head. But the follwoing day the images were all back to normal. My refelctions on the process of my head so far is that i am following the tutorials but i am still have to go over and listen to them again to get a better understanding for creating the head. In today tutorial we looked at putting lighting and the effects that it has on the image, we looed at shadowing the maps and different lights for example Omni Lights, and the way you can change the colour of the light to a green instead of a normal white light.
Above is the room i created using the lights and mapping of the lights. In the tutroial today jo showed us how to create skinning and boneing a model and how to make it move inside an object, i found this very exciting and i really enjoyed doing this. Also above i have added how far i am on my face im just creating the back of the head and the neck and shoulders i am currently looking at tutorial 7.
Week 3 06/10/08

Room - Stage, doors and windows
Model:- AMPK Make: AK Animation: MP Sound: KAMP
Friday
The modelling stages are going very well, my particualr problems that i had and with low poly modelling, is that i found i had to put the sqaure in but i acheived it. I found putting the face from photoshop into 3ds max which i thought that i would never be able to achieve was actually very easy once i watched the tutorial in my own time a few times to get a better understanding of it. Above is face with the mesh poly over the top. The best thing in the lecture today was i created my 1st moving animation this is also shown above to. I also looked at different materials on shapes and images too and this is above. I have realy enjoyed this lecture cause there was a lot of new infomation about 3ds Max that i did not know about.
Week 2 29/09/08
Week 1 22/09/08
My 1st thoughts of the breif is that we listened to a tutorial on how to make a head in 3d studio max but starting off by puting things into photoshop. The different areas on the breif look very interesting, after reading the brief it describes that we are working in groups of four and we are goin to create an animation to promate the services that the YMCA in chelmsford provide for the younger generation. I belive when workin in groups it will gain practical expereinces in the team and to work with the client and what the client wants to see to be promoted. There is three words that will come from my mind at this stage is 'acceptance, community and activity.' In our group is Keeley, Amy, Paul and Matt.
Tuesday
Also today in the lecture i took a picture of my face and started to create it in photoshop following the tutorial.
My research on the YMCA Chelmsford is:
The Chelmsford YMCA Day Nursery is a special place for children. The YMCA provide learning experiences that help children to learn and grow through building their confidence and independence. The YMCA's aim is to develop them into individual people.
Mission statement
Our mission statement for Chelmsford YMCA is a Christian Family Centre serving the community, specialising in youth work and childcare. The YMCA live up to every part of it, week in and week out, throughout Chelmsford. The YMCA offers many exciting events and challenges to the young people.
In 1844the first Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) was formed by George Williams in St Paul's churchyard in the heart of London. The YMCA has continued to grow and to change in the variety of programmes it has offered over the many years. The “Y” has seen many up and coming young bands through its long history including the ‘Bay City Rollers’, ‘Lindisfarne’, ‘Stereophonics’ to name but a few. Its had its fair share of politicians, civic dignitaries, and some really ‘colourful’ characters both young and old through it’s doors over the years. But since its inception in 1877 Chelmsford YMCA has always endeavoured to support young and older people of all faiths and none, to share its Christian distinctiveness with all those who come through its front door.
