My visit to the YMCA was very intersting, i made notes as Craig Gough talked to the group about the service and clubs that the YMCA hold for the youth group and the surronding area of Chelmsford. He gave us a leaflet and also the website of the YMCA , he also told use about that there is more infomation about the YMCA on 'Facebook' and also 'Myspace' which promotes different bands that mite be playing at the Y club on friday nights.
Below is my reflection of the work so far and how i feel the work is progressing:
After our visit when then talked and looked at the website to give us a better understand of the YMCA, after the research and looking at the site, our group identified a particular service to create an animation to promote in a vibrant and dynamic way that appeals to young people. In the group we have Amy Hilton, Keeley O'Donegan(myself), Paul Criddle and Matt Bolton, both myself and Amy are Mutlimedia students and both Paul and Matt or CAV students. We worked together last year and we have strong bonds between each other and we all know how we work and we also set goals at the end of each session/ meeting to do work inbetween seeing each other. The theme that we have picked to animate is 'Music' we all agreed that thursday nites and friday nights where top nights for music at the YMCA. Thursday nights at the YMCA they have: Rock School, a safe place to learn about music, jam and play with friends. Friday nights: Y Club, live bands play and a cost of £3.50 entry fee from 7.30-10.30pm and non alchoelic drinks are served. By looking at facebook it seems to be that there are drum and base nights, MC and Grim music nights, Band nights, chill music playing nights that they promote.
So we have brainstormed and come up with an idea of a funky animation which influences those different nights and how fun and socialable the YMCA can be for the youth. The animation will have up to date music. We have also created a little story board of how the animation is goin to run, which paul has hand drawn. We also started playin around with the YMCA logo in 3D Max, so when the music theme changes so does the logo. The people in the animation are going to be a bit like the 'Sims' charaters but the main message is to promte the YMCA through animation. At the end of the animation we are goin to also have a phrase saying 'your nights, your time, spend it wise!'
Next weeks goals:
All the group create in 3D Max props:
cups
chairs
tables
stages etc....
Friday
